Name and PurposeDeloitte Health Equity Institute (DHEI) is one of the organizations that support the community and its efforts to advocate for better health care among its population across Florida. The purpose of the Deloitte Health Equity Institute is, therefore, to consistently advance health equity in a way that makes an impact that will matter (DHEI, n.d.). In this regard, the Deloitte Health Equity Institute helps to create cross-sector collaboration and come up with effective tools that address different forms of disparities in the delivery of healthcare, such as tools dealing with racism, structural flaws in the healthcare system, and bias. The DHEI hopes to create an exponential change that contributes to a world where our health will not be determined by gender or zip code ability, or status. In this regard, DHEI hopes to establish a community where all the people across Florida will have an opportunity and fair way to achieve their full potential in every aspect of their well-being and health (DHEI, n.d.).
Relationship of the Organization with the Population and Advanced Nursing PracticeThe Deloitte Health Equity Institute is a research and advocacy organization that seeks to promote health equity for all individuals, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, or socioeconomic status. The Institute’s work is relevant to Florida communities because Florida is a diverse state with many different populations that experience health disparities (The Deloitte Health Equity Institute, n.d.). Advanced practice nurses (APNs) are an important part of addressing health disparities and promoting health equity. APNs, such as nurse practitioners and clinical nurse specialists, have advanced education and training that allows them to provide high-quality, patient-centered care to diverse populations (Mason, Perez, McLemore, & Dickson, 2020). APNs are often involved in community-based care and work to address the social determinants of health that contribute to health disparities (Tiase et al., 2022). The Deloitte Health Equity Institute’s research and advocacy efforts can inform the work of APNs in Florida communities by providing insights into the root causes of health disparities and identifying evidence-based strategies for addressing them. APNs can also collaborate with the Institute to develop and implement innovative solutions to health disparities that are tailored to the unique needs of Florida communities. Overall, the Deloitte Health Equity Institute’s work is highly relevant to the work of APNs in Florida and can support their efforts to promote health equity and improve health outcomes for all individuals.
Policy Issues That Are Of Concern to the OrganizationThe Deloitte Health Equity Institute is focused on a range of policy issues that impact health equity. These include health care access and coverage. The Institute is concerned with ensuring that all individuals have access to affordable and high-quality health care, regardless of their socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, gender, or other factors that contribute to health disparities (Kleinpell et al., 2022). On the other hand, the organization is involved with different issues relating to the social determinants of health. The Institute recognizes that social determinants of health, such as poverty, education, housing, and employment, play a significant role in shaping health outcomes (Oruche & Zapolski, 2020). The Institute advocates for policies that address these determinants and reduce health disparities. The DHEI is also actively engaged with policy issues relating to health workforce diversity. The Institute believes that a diverse healthcare workforce is essential to promoting health equity. The Institute advocates for policies that promote diversity in the healthcare workforce, including strategies to recruit and retain health professionals from underrepresented communities. On the other hand, the DHEI is also actively engaged with data measurement. The Institute recognizes the importance of collecting and analyzing data on health disparities to develop evidence-based policies and interventions. The Institute advocates for policies that promote data collection and analysis, as well as the development of standardized measures of health equity. Finally, the Deloitte Health Equity Institute is actively engaged in promoting health equity in different policies. The Institute advocates for policies that consider the health impacts of all policies, not just those related to health care. The Institute promotes health equity in all policies approach that considers how policies related to housing, transportation, education, and other areas impact health outcomes and health equity (DHEI, n.d.).
Effect of Joining the Organization on My Practice as an APNJoining the Deloitte Health Equity Institute in its efforts to promote health equity can have a significant impact on my practice as an advanced practice nurse (APN). By joining the Institute, I will have access to research and advocacy efforts focused on health equity. This can increase my awareness of the root causes of health disparities and the strategies that are effective in addressing them(Lathrop, 2020). This knowledge can inform my practice and help me develop more effective interventions to promote health equity. Joining the Institute in its advocacy efforts can provide opportunities to collaborate with other health professionals, researchers, and policymakers who are working to promote health equity. This collaboration can help you develop new approaches to addressing health disparities and expand your professional network. Joining the DHEI in its efforts to promote health equity and participating in the Institute’s activities, such as attending conferences or webinars, can provide opportunities for professional development. This can help me stay up-to-date on the latest research and best practices in promoting health equity and enhance my skills as an APN.
